Anime Humor Sites

The silly, irreverent, and just plain _funny_...you'll find it here. Please check your sense of propriety at the door, and proceed forward with tongue firmly in cheek. :-)

Tsukino Usagi with a floppy full of her favorite anime humor.

Here once stood AniPLOT, the Frankenstein monster of THEM, which would randomly create a brand-new anime plot for your enjoyment. One of these days, we'll find a home that supports CGI scripts. Until then, sadly, AniPLOT is out of commission.

Until then, here are a few other links to help tide you over. (Some of these links are pretty old, though. ^_^)

Anyone who's listened to any Hayashibara Megumi j-pop song is familiar with Engrish. No, it's not English as we here in the West know it, but it's sure popular in Japan, often with hilarious results. Are you an "intelligent connoisseur who enjoys the finer points in life"? (Quote: Men's Pocky) Then visit this site: Japanese Engrish. Remember, "Don't forget to try in mind."

Yes, physics still applies in the anime world, although not in quite the way you're used to. For some enlightenment for how this very non-Newtonian world works, try The Laws of Anime at Anime Cafe. Be sure to check out the other stuff there while you're at it; it's good stuff.

And if for some reason just watching anime with your friends isn't enough fun for you, you might try out the Anime Drinking Game from rec.arts.anime.misc. Even if you don't drink alcohol, it's a hoot. Try it with Mountain Dew... or Jolt Cola if you really want to make it an ordeal. @_@

CURRENTLY DOWNThe Anime Survival Guide is a must for those of you who would aspire to make the anime world your home. Topics covered include possible vocations, places to live, and how to deal with aliens and other-worldly beings.

Pithier than the Survival Guide but no less practical is a list of life lessons titled Everything I Needed To Know, I Learned From Anime. Try not to take them too seriously. ^_-

For those of you who still aren't too clear on the basics of anime and such, here is, um, a "special" FAQ from rec.arts.anime.misc that explains all. ;^) Gullible web-surfers need not apply...

CURRENTLY DOWNAnd here's an example of otakudom in all of its social-unacceptability. Ever wondered what it would be like to marry your favorite anime character? The Anime Marriage Prospects Guide seems to think it's got a pretty good idea, and covers an extensive list of prospective anime-mates, both male and female. I'd say I was appalled if I wasn't laughing so hard. ;^)

CURRENTLY DOWNSam & Raph's Index Page. A semi-regular anime column that appeared in Entropy, T.H.E.M.'s own fanzine. Usually irrelevant, often entertaining, but always weird. Check it out!
