As part of the Registration Agreement, you have either verified that you are over the age of 13 and / or have parental permission to view these boards, per the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA).
However, as this is a forum discussing Japanese animation, the source material is not necessarily appropriate for the youngest allowed audiences here. So here are some thoughts on what to expect, and perhaps where you may want to hold off on posting unless you feel up to it.
While profanity and pornography are expressly prohibited on our boards, off-color humor is not. The Anime Humor forum may contain pictures or jokes that may be unsuitable for the sensitive, particularly the Caption Contest. Also, while expletives are deleted from the Synchro Sessions, they might not be suitable for those under 16.
Anime Chat should mostly be fine -- however, discussions of certain titles may contain unsuitable content. If you are unsure of a title's content rating, refer to the existing review at THEM Anime (if one is present) or the encyclopedia at Anime News Network (animenewsnetwork.com) if there is no current review. THEM occasionally discusses adult content in its reviews and, very rarely, in the forums -- such content is always posted within the bounds of the rules, but it is marked as ADULT, so you are encouraged to avoid these reviews and threads.
There is an adults only section of the boards which is only available for access by those who have requested permission and are over 18 years of age.
Be aware that most of our readers are between 16 and 25, with more than a few older than that (several admins are well into their thirties or even past that). Also, as this is an international forum, there are posters of many nationalities, ethnicities, religions, and creeds.
Keep an open mind, and you may find much of use here -- and maybe even a few friends to talk about your hobbies with!
That's what we're here for.
