Basic plot
Adachi Momo is a typical teenage girl. Except for some teeny tiny setbacks. Firstly, she is on the swim team and thus tans.. BAD. The impression she gives off is generally that she is a wannabe kogal, but truly she's normal. Momo's second setback is her clingy "friend" Sae, who wants to be friends with Momo in a very disturbing way. Sae is constantly trying to one-up Momo, be it by figuring out who Momo has a crush on and then going after that person, or buying something Momo likes and wearing it before she does.
Despite her catty "friend" (slash enemy *cough*) Sae, Momo still finds the time to fall in love with not one but, GASP, two guys: Toji and Kiley. Toji is more on the quiet side, but he is very dependable. Kiley is more playful (and in my opinion, much more like Momo herself) and he becomes someone Momo entrusts her deeper thoughts in as Sae secretly manipulates pretty much everyone.
Momo ends up at a fork in the road several times with Toji and Kiley. Will she date Toji? Kiley? What's a girl to do?
The Anime
The Peach Girl anime is not yet available in the USA. It is, however, being fan-subbed by a group called SD Project. The anime fansub pre-release is, to-date (June 25, 2005), 19 episodes. The style used is very dramatic (maybe it's the music?) but appropriate.
The Manga
Eight volumes long, the Peach Girl manga appeared in a shoujo magazine called SMILE, in the USA. The manga published by Tokyopop are roughly $10.00 each. There are also two collectible box-sets which contain four manga each.
