Born to be Wild in the Valley of Motorboating Enthusiasts.

Some of you lucky Americans out there has had this show available for quite some time, but I had to wait for High School DxD BorN to be released on a physical media to be able to watch it. And while I did walk away from it mildly disappointed, that was mostly because the first two seasons were so much fun. This one was... also fun, but that was more of a main draw rather than a nice bonus this time around. Still worth it, though.

Oh, if only I could look into the future and see if we'll be getting anything nice for next week. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Re:Scrapped Princess.

So yeah, looks like Allen's got a second opinion for you this time around, but for a show that hasn't seen a review in quite some time. And he still adores Scrapped Princess, Allen does. Despite its flaws, it hearkens back to when fantasy was serious business, but without the gritty darkness that has seeped into too may a show lately.

Well... broad statements aside, that's our lot for this week. Next week, we'll be looking at some birds, probably. See you all then.

A Jin in Your Hand is Better Than Two Right Behind You.

Yet here Allen is, with two seasons of A-Jin: Demi-Human behind him as far as his review queue goes. It was almost a step up from the average too, if it hadn't contained so many shouty bits. From Allen, that is, because nobody is immune of the dreaded "shouting at the screen" when things stop making sense.

Now, while Allen's been working his ass off for us for quite some time now, I'm not sure if we can promise you all a new review next Monday. Dunno if it's the post-Christmas blues that still linger, or if it's just old between-seasons ennui, but it's certainly something going on.

Well, we'll see.

Bewitching and... transcontinential?

Allen takes us across the border of Mexico in his jaunt through El Cazador de la Bruja, a show he found pretty decent as light entertainment goes. It had some fun parts, some not-very-well-thought-out parts and... well, some more fun parts. It just had potential for something more, is all.

Weirdly enough, you could say the exact same thing about Izetta: The Last Witch, which is a bit of the same thing, only bleached starchly white and then dunked in the big WW2-era pool for flavor. It's OK. It's fun... as long as you don't think too hard about it. But that's also all it is.

That was a weirdly average week. Let's hope next week brings us something more interesting, right?
