Who's Your Bone Daddy... Again?

Some years ago, I sort of made a leap of faith on a show that represented what has become the most obnoxious genre over the last couple of years -- the "self-insert caught in an MMORPG, and boy howdy, haven't I become ridiculously powerful now" genre. And now Overlord II is here, and the only question you really need to ask yourself is.... how important is it that the main character is the one who does the most badassery onscreen? Because while this show does indeed provide "more of the same" in a good way, it allows the others to step up to the plate this time. If that is a good thing or a bad thing, I'll leave it up to you. Personally, I was fine with it, at least in this case.

And there we go. Update a little early, but I'd rather get this done now than later. We wouldn't want to be late, right? ^^;;

Well, see you next week.

And These Are The Hands We Give Them...

Allen drops by again to tell you all about Violet Evergarden, a series that really followed the letter of the law of melodrama, and it's great.

I guess I can only hope to reach that level with next week's update. Let's give it a try, eh?

The Big Brother Baby Boom is Upon Us.

Which is to say there has been at least a few shows where older men of variable age differences has been called upon to take care of kids, mostly girls, and as such has melted our hearts that way to various degrees. (Controversial endings notwithstanding.) The main complaint here being that most of these leads have been spared what is probably the most frustrating part of child-rearing; the first years. Allen's choice of the week, School Babysitters, might be the show to bring to focus this overlooked diamond in diapers as far as genres go. It's as literal as we can get to the expression "baby steps".

That's it for this week. Next week, we will head off to more relaxing locations. Or maybe not, and it's all in the name. See you all then.

Ta-ka and Ni-shi, sit-ting in a tree. T... e... a... s... i... n... g...

And so it goes in this week's contribution. Allen takes a look at Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san and finds it to be top stuff.

Which makes this the second top-shelf material we've had so far. It would be nice to find ourselves in that sort of winning streak, but it remains to be seen come next week. See you all then.

Lay This Monday on my Back....

Last week, I promised you guys a treat, and here it is: Laid-Back Camp is my contribution for the week, and it is a gem of a show for the quiet, understated slice-of-life fan among us. Particularly for those among the audience who are introverted or just value their "alone time" every once in a while. But more importantly: so much scenery porn! You might think that scenery can't look good when the grass is all yellow-ish and dead-like, and the surroundings look cold and inhospitable. And you would be wrong, as this show is more than happy to prove.

Next week, Allen's got some more excellent stuff for us, provided you can deal with the main topic at hand. See you all then.
